Misinformation

Talk about a high crashing into the side of a mountain! I went to World Market on Monday, and took some reusable bags with me – I knew I’d be buying coconut milk & they always double-bag those. One of those bags was my Trader Joe’s tote, a colorful fun purchase after my visit to St. Louis this spring. The employee at the checkout noticed the name, and mentioned that while she’d never been to one, she heard that one was going in over by the CostCo near Independence Center.
We had a nice chat & I extolled the many virtues of Trader Joe’s, and I left, buoyed by the excitement that FINALLY, a TJ’s would be closer than 4 hours away.

There is nothing on the website that indicates it’s coming or even remotely in the works.

Dammit.

I go to TJ’s every time I am in St.Louis but I am not sure if I’d go more frequently if there was one here. All I buy is sweets and snacks (dried fruit and chocolate) and I am not in any urgent need of either.

I heard that TJ’s was coming to Overland Park, at 135th just west of State Line. I wonder if any of these rumors are true?

I’m not surprised that it’s not on their site. I was told by the TJ’s here in Union Square that another location will be opening in the spring on the Upper West Side, but that’s not on their site either.

The problem with TJ’s here in the city is that the line is out the door half of the time to check out and by the time you get to the check out, on to the subway and then home, all of your frozen stuff is thawed 🙁

…and I’ve heard if it went in there, it’d be east of State Line, because the liquor laws in MO are nicer & they’ve already established themselves in the state. Sigh. I just would be delighted if they went in SOMEwhere in town!
