Yes, indeed, there is a shortage right now. A quick Google search turned up several articles about the current situation. Apparently the big companies are reassuring people that they are shipping stock out & there should be pumpkin available mid-October or so – but for now, if you see a can? Grab it!
I’ll check Big Lots…they have some crazy stuff sometimes. Who would’ve thought we would be short of pumpkin out of all things? Thank god there isn’t a shortage on chocolate!
Check the organic section at Hy-Vee. They still had some as of last weekend.
Weird! I actually made that Paula Deen recipe a few weeks back with a can of pumpkin I’d stashed some time ago. Then I got the urge for pumpkin bread, went looking for pumpkin, and found none! I had no idea there was a shortage…I just thought it was bad timing. Hmm…
